SIGN THE PETITION NOW!

Election night in Europe. Countless souls across our continent clutched to the TV or computer, all tuned in to the same program, aired in English, but dubbed live in all languages of the EU. The atmosphere heated up in millions of households – think of the release of the voting results at the Eurovision Song Contest, but tenser, with infinitely more at stake; motivational slogans, sighs of relief, tears of sadness and of joy. A Europe-wide live event that, despite the many political contradictions, makes people realize that they are members of a continental community, and partake in the celebration of its democracy.

That is how the European elections could be like. Unfortunately, the current reality is quite different. A decreasing number of European citizens make their way to the voting booths during the European Elections, and perhaps even fewer follow the results in real time on TV or online. The tendency towards disinterest, one could say, is baked into the voting system itself. Europeans can only vote for national parties and candidates, which, together with likeminded parties and candidates from other EU-countries, make up the larger European parties in the Parliament in Brussels. Ideal would be to change the current system so that voters can choose whatever candidate they want, regardless of their country of residence. But it would be too optimistic to expect a swift end to country-bound voting for the time being.

Nevertheless, there is a way to make the European Elections much more engaging, with the current system still in place. Because the problem is not only that voting is limited to national borders, but that the announcement of the election results is as well. Huddling together around a screen, watching the numbers and percentages come in from different cities and regions, is the height of any modern democratic process. Events like that create a sense of belonging to a political community, even though your fellow citizens might prefer another party than you; you feel that you are all part of the same lively democracy. Sadly, those who watched the European elections until now could rely solely on their national TV emissions, showing mostly country-specific maps and results, leaving some with the impression that only an insignificant national voting round had taken place, instead of a continental ballot involving hundreds of millions of participants.

To make voters truly aware that they are part of a European democracy, we should upscale the broadcasting of the results to a European level. What we need, is a Europe-wide live election event shown on public TV, where the results of all the different voting regions in the European Union are tracked, put together and objectively analysed, in contact with correspondents in all member states. This pan-European show would also involve commentary and debate, from different sides of the political spectrum, and might even include music, citations of writers from the past and short videos showing the beauty of each of our member states. A likely candidate to organise such an event is Eurovision, part of the European Broadcasting Union, since it has decades of experience in airing large international live emissions. A Europe-wide election show would not only make the ballot much more interesting, but more importantly, it would also help to raise democratic and community consciousness to a European level.

You can help to make this event happen. Please share this initiative on social media and, even better, bring it to the attention of politicians, candidates, political parties, journalists, media companies, analysts and opinion makers. Let’s join forces to strengthen our European democracy!

“What must change – and has already done so in Europe – is the self-image of nation-states, which must learn to see themselves not so much as independent players but as members of a larger community” – Jürgen Habermas

“Europe, because of its disarray, needs Britain and, as much as this continent can appear miserable, it is certain that Britain could not survive without Europe. The prejudice and indifference that your politicians often nurture towards the continent may perhaps be legitimate, yet they are no less deplorable. Distrust may perhaps be good as method. It is abhorrent as principle: there is always a time when the principle contradicts the fact. Facts say that, for better or worse, Britain and Europe are inseparable. It may very well appear as a mismatched marriage. But as one of our moralists once said: there are good marriages, but no sublime ones. As ours is not sublime, let us make it good, because divorce is impossible.” – Albert Camus, Conference Made in England, 1951. Albert Camus, Complete Works, New Edition Volume III 1949-1956, Library of the Pléiade, No. 548

“The European cannot live unless embarked upon some great unifying enterprise. When this is lacking, he becomes degraded, grows slack, his soul is paralyzed. We have a commencement of this before our eyes today. The groups which up to today have been known as nations arrived about a century ago at their highest point of expansion. Nothing more can be done with them except lead them to a higher evolution. They are now mere past accumulating all around Europe, weighing it down, imprisoning it. With more vital freedom than ever, we feel that we cannot breathe the air within our nations, because it is confined air. What was before a nation open to all the winds of heaven, has turned into something provincial, an enclosing space […]Nationalism is nothing but a mania, a pretext to escape from the necessity of inventing something new, some great enterprise. Its primitive methods of action and the type of men it exalts reveal abundantly that it is the opposite of a historical creation. Only the determination to construct a great nation from the group of peoples of the Continent would give new life to the pulses of Europe. She would start to believe in herself again, and automatically to make demands on, to discipline, herself.” – Jose Ortega y Gasset, The Revolt of the Masses, Chapter XIV: Who Rules The World?

“European unity is no fantasy, but reality itself; and the fantasy is precisely the opposite: the belief that France, Germany, Italy or Spain are substantive & independent realities.” – Jose Ortega y Gasset, The Revolt of the Masses

“We must build a kind of United States of Europe. In this way only will hundreds of millions of toilers be able to regain the simple joys and hopes which make life worth living.” – Winston Churchill, Speech to the academic youth in Zurich, 19th September 1946

“Yes, it is Europe, from the Atlantic to the Urals, it is Europe, it is the whole of Europe, that will decide the fate of the world.” – Charles De Gaulle, 23 November 1959, Strasbourg.

“We have sown a seed of liberty and union that will gradually germinate throughout the earth. Some day, on the model of the United States of America, will be constituted the United States of Europe.” – George Washington

““[There is a] poisoning that now leads the nations of #Europe to delimit and barricade themselves against each other as if it were a matter of quarantine. For that we are too open minded … [we do not] desire the eternalisation of the European system of a lot of petty states …
We are, in one term — and let this be our term of honour — good Europeans, the heirs of Europe …” – Friedrich Nietzsche, The Gay Science, section 377

“It is increasingly evident that the Federation of the Peoples of Europe is the vital precondition for the spiritual recovery of the European nations and for the preservation of the civilization and culture of the West. . . . For this and nothing else is the meaning and content of the German Revolution: The resurrection of the West!” – Otto Strasser, The Establishment of Socialism (Prague: Heinrich Grunov, 1936).

“No citizen of Europe could be altogether an exile in any part of it… When a man travelled or resided for health, pleasure, business or necessity, from his country, he never felt himself quite abroad.” – Edmund Burke

“The History of the World travels from East to West, for Europe is absolutely the end of History, Asia the beginning.” – Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Lectures on the Philosophy of History (1831)

“There will be no peace in Europe, if the states are reconstituted on the basis of national sovereignty … The countries of Europe are too small to guarantee their peoples the necessary prosperity and social development. The European states must constitute themselves into a federation …” – Jean Monnet

“The ocean is rough and whirling, and the currents go to two possible endings: the autocrat, or the United States of Europe.” – Carlo Cattaneo

“The new Europe of solidarity and co-operation among all its people will find rapidly increasing prosperity once national economic boundaries are removed.” – Arthur Seyss-Inquart

“We must now face the difficult task of moving towards a single economy, a single political entity … For the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire we have the opportunity to unite Europe.” – Romano Prodi, Speech to the European Parliament, October 1999

“I believe in political union. I believe in political Europe. I believe in the Europe of integration. I believe in a Europe where we have the economy, culture and the politics brought together.” – Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, 2007

“Today, size matters again. Member states need the collective strength of the European Union to have leverage; otherwise they will be without the power and wealth needed to matter in world politics. Either Europe is a global actor in economic terms and in foreign and defence policy, or each of the member states will struggle to maintain the role that it had in the past century.” – Enrico Letta, Speech at Chatham House, July 2013

“If the liberation of the European people is not accompanied by their unification, the European states will shortly be swallowed up by the growing World powers … Europe, which has almost lost its confidence, expects help from the outside. Some expect it from Russia, others from America. Both aspirations are life threatening for Europe. Neither the West nor the East wants to save Europe, Russia wants to conquer it, America wants to buy it.” – R.N. Coudenhove-Kalergi, Pan-Europe (1923)

“So the whole European question culminates in either – or:
War – or peace!
Anarchy – or organisation!
Arms race – or teardown!
Competition – or cooperation!
Collapse – or merger!

No Europeans will be able to dodge this decision. Before making that decision neutrality is treason. Who is not Pan-European – is anti-European! Who does not, sees the dangers to which the fragmented Europe politically opposed to, is blind; but who sees these dangers and still does not doing anything to avert them – is a traitor and criminal to Europe; he sacrifices his convenience or his profit, the future of his children, his nation, his culture; he is complicit in all the disasters that must befall Europe, if he holds on to its present course. The answer to the question of Europe, the future of Europe depends. This answer is in the hands of the Europeans …
If the peoples of Europe want – Pan-Europa will arise: you just need her voice, all candidates and parties to fail, the external program is anti-European. So every European can participate in the demise – or at the resurrection of Europe!” – R.N. Coudenhove Kalergi, Pan-Europa (1923)

“If the ‘Athens Spring’ – when the Greek people courageously rejected the catastrophic austerity conditions of the previous bailouts – has one lesson to teach, it is that Greece will recover only when the European Union makes the transition from ‘We the states’ to ‘We the European people’.” – Yanis Varoufakis

“That in order to achieve the triumph of liberty, justice and peace in the international relations of Europe, and to render civil war impossible among the various peoples which make up the European family, only a single course lies open: to constitute the United States of Europe.” – Mikhail Bakunin

“I wished to found a European system, a European Code of Laws, a European judiciary: there would be but one people in Europe.” – Napoleon Bonaparte, in Exile on St. Helena

“Europe thus divided into nationalities freely formed and free internally, peace between States would have become easier: the United States of Europe would become a possibility.” – Napoleon Bonaparte, Felix Markham, Napoleon (New York: Penguin Books USA Inc., 1966), 257 as quoted in Matthew Zarzeczny, Napoleon’s European Union: The Grand Empire of the United States of Europe (Kent State University Master’s thesis), 2.

Some suggestion of a European union can be inferred from Immanuel Kant’s 1795 proposal for an “eternal peace congress.” – https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/…/european-integration-kant-philos…/

“A day will come when all nations on our continent will form a European brotherhood … A day will come when we shall see … the United States of America and the United States of Europe face to face, reaching out for each other across the seas.” – Victor Hugo

Hugo planted a tree in the grounds of his residence on the Island of Guernsey and was noted in saying that when this tree matured the United States of Europe would have come into being. This tree to this day is still growing in the gardens of Maison de Hauteville, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Victor Hugo’s residence during his exile from France.

* *I feel this is an important and tragic event (it happened in America) which needs to be addressed and how it relates to the current problem of Modernity and how we need to remember our ultimate goal and that is to fight for a better Europe and brighter future for its people * *

Every so often I see a glimmer of a golden nugget – a story that brings a tear to my eye and inspires me.

In this post I’m going to talk about Richard Russell – the Sky King.

To tell his story in a sentence: He was a airport baggage handler who stole an airplane and crashed to his death.

… but that isn’t the full story. Not at all.

Yes, it is true – Russell was a 29 year old baggage handler for Horizon Air, and he stole a Q400 airplane from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport for a Joyride-Suicide.

But why?

As two F-15 Fighter Jets were scrambled, no doubt under orders to shoot him down if he threatened to put the public in danger – Russell and the Air Traffic Controller had a touching conversation over the radio.

The Air Traffic Controller, playing the part of a Negotiator, tried to coax Russell into landing at McChord Airfield, no doubt seen as the ‘best case scenario’ by the ‘authorities.’

But Russell knew better.

“This is probably like jail time for life, huh?”

Feeling the gravity of the situation, “I’ve got a lot of people that care about me. It’s going to disappoint them to hear that I did this. I would like to apologize to each and every one of them. Just a broken guy, got a few screws loose, I guess.”

A broken guy, a few screws loose?

The CEO of Horizon Air said the following:

“We don’t know how he learned to do that (fly the plane). Commercial aircraft are complex machines. No idea how he achieved that experience.”

Richard Russell wasn’t crazy, he was not an unhinged ‘sick’ person fit for an asylum.

… he was a average Joe, like you or me, fed up with the nine to five rat-race.

With no future to look forward to and feeling alienated in his own homeland.

He was tired of looking into his future and only seeing himself as a cog – as a mindless consumer, a drone, a good doggie who is told he is free … but only within the perimeter of a fenced in square.

“Hey, you think if I land this successfully Alaska would give me a job as a pilot?”

“You know I think they would give you a job doing anything if you can pull this off.”

“Yeahhhhh right! Nah, I’m a white guy.”

Rich wasn’t sick.

He was awake … he was awake, staring a sick world in it’s coffee-colored face.

Like all of us, Rich had dreams growing up, and these dreams were encouraged with the ‘American Dream,’ with ‘meritocracy,’ with ‘hard work paves the way for success,’ and with every other bold faced lie that the system tells us to make us feel like our shitty little lives are of our own self-determined fate. That it is our fault that we are miserable, and that men like the Koch Brothers, George Soros and Harvey Weinstein are successful because they worked hard and “earned it.” Bullshit.

Well, Rich wanted to be a Pilot growing up. To rip through the skies, to soar like an eagle.

A noble dream.

But Rich knew better – he didn’t have a $100,000+ college degree. He didn’t have the ‘diverse background’ needed to attain scholarships and sought-after employment.

Instead, what Rich had was a minimum wage job that allowed him to work around the people who were fortunate enough to live his dream.

Imagine Rich, a man capable of teaching himself how to fly a plane at home, watching as the aircraft takeoff and land, living his dream – as he, a part of the assembly line, tosses luggage into a cart … over and over again.

As the memories of his childhood pass his mind, he remembers going fishing and watching fireworks on the seaside with his grandfather. He remembers playing outside with his friends in the park. He remembers a happy community, a living community.

Back in the present, driving his beat up & rusted out junker home to his wife … who also works a full time job, just to keep the repo man away. Despair sets in, a emptiness that his beautiful wife can no longer fill.

As he drives home he asks himself … ‘what is this place?’

Past the park turned gang-turf. Past his dead, rotting community.

Rich is a ‘Middle Child of History.’

Forgotten, cast into obscurity, presented with an unfulfilling life of McDonalds, TV Shows, Work, and Sleep.

We know Rich isn’t the only one.

Life Expectancy is dropping as Suicide Rates are rising.

Drugs, Alcohol, and every other means of ‘escape’ from this soul-crushing society are used to temporarily escape this failed Civilisation. To escape the stagnancy and misery felt deep down. To subdue the crushing isolation and alienation so many people feel at their core.

But it is never quite enough. Everyday the despair greets you, stares at you in the face and whispers: “Your life is worth nothing and you know it.”

Rich realised – like many of us have, that he was already living in Hell.

That his life was worthless, that no amount of money or success, that no new car or big screen TV would ever make him anything more than one of seven billion Ants.

But then Rich realised something.

He realised every man has a choice to affirm or reject his Destiny.

He put down his video games and picked up his dream.

Like a warrior determined to die an honorable death in battle – Rich knew he wasn’t going to land the plane or save his skin.

What was waiting for him on the ground?

No, Rich was tired of ugliness and squalor … he would die beautifully, as King of the Skies.

Many people said, “He committed suicide, he has sinned unforgivably.”

The ‘Modern Mind’ pairs perfectly with this degenerate way of thinking.
“Life at any cost! The length of life is all that matters, to die before 90 is a tragedy!”

No, through his death, he gave his life beauty and meaning.

He overcame despair, he overcame the ugliness of this world.

In his final moments, he was a lover of life – he was smiling and at peace.

“Man, the sights went by so fast. I was thinking, like, I’m going to have this moment of serenity, take in all the sights … There’s a lot of pretty stuff, but they’re pretty in a different context … Hey I want the coordinates of that orca, with err, you know the mama orca with the baby, I wanna go see that guy.”

This was no ‘suicide’ of despair.

This was a dignified, poetic death.

This was a “fuck you” to this materialistic world, to this nihilistic hellhole.

… but, nonetheless, I am deeply saddened.

It shouldn’t be like this.

Men like Rich shouldn’t have to steal a plane and fly into the sunset to find meaning in life.

Some of us have been fortunate enough to find authentic meaning in life – but we know that so many others are in a very dark place.

This is the ‘Kali Yuga’ – a time of societal sickness.

As the infection continues to spread into the middle and upper classes, as people continue to search for meaning in radical ideology and fringe groups – the result will not always be a man like Rich, set on taking only his own life while living out his dream.

No, we will be tortured with mass shooters, suicide bombers, and every other type of carnage … the work of increasingly effective and intelligent minds.

This isn’t a ‘mental health epidemic,’ this is a plague created by our decrepit Modern society and Civilisation. A plague that is rotting us from the inside out, destroying us.

Let Rich serve as a somber reminder of just how important our mission is – we are fighting to give our people something to live for again. We are fighting for a better and brighter Europe.

Fighting to take back the future that was stolen from us.

To restore a sense of inner peace and serenity that we have been searching for endlessly.

“I think I’m gonna try to do a barrel roll, and if that goes good . . . nose down and call it a night.”

Goodnight Sky King, see you on the other side.

— “Within every modern man there is a lost future, a tomorrow that never arrived.” —

“The real victims of mental illness can be found among those who appear to be most normal. Many of them are normal because they are so well adjusted to our mode of existence, because their human voice has been silenced so early in their lives, that they do not even struggle or suffer or develop symptoms as the neurotic does.
They are normal not in what may be called the absolute sense of the word; they are normal only in relation to a profoundly abnormal society. Their perfect adjustment to that abnormal society is a measure of their mental sickness. These millions of abnormally normal people, living without fuss in a society to which, if they were fully human beings, they ought not to be adjusted.” – Aldous Huxley

While a media struggle is part of any modern political confrontation, in recent years the battle over the hearts and minds of Western men and women has strongly intensified.

For several decades most of what is often called the mainstream media in the West was dominated by a certain broad ideological current, marked by neo-liberalism, social progressivism, globalism, multiculturalism, anti-nationalism and political correctness. Of course there were also outlets critical of the mainstream, but these had a more marginal role in society and were often frowned upon as xenophobic reactionaries.

The convergence of crises in the 21st century; the assault of radical Islamism, the financial crisis and the migrant crisis, has led to more Westerners challenging mainstream narratives because they no longer felt like their voices were heard. This was also infused by the rise of social media which led to a kind of global media democratization. One of the effects of these developments was populist politics, both in Europe and the US, and the strengthening of the anti-mainstream media and even the appearance of many new populist outlets.

It would have been good at that point, if both sides showed willingness for dialogue and mutual understanding of each other’s viewpoints. And in some cases dialogue did take place. Unfortunately, more often both sides dug deeper trenches and doubled down on their positions. The mainstream responded by putting its emphasis on diversity and open-borders in overdrive. The anti-mainstream doubled down on its complete obsession with Islam and even started to flirt with Putin’s Russia and call for the destruction of the post-1945 European political structures.

Today’s media landscape is the scene of a kind of hybrid multi-party conflict. The chaotic struggle among Western state media, big corporations, independent outlets and individuals is made even more complicated because several dictatorial governments also partake. Countries like Russia and Qatar have a vested interest in exaggerating certain problems to exploit people’s fears and grievances for their own political gain. We see something similar with the tabloid press, only their scope is more financial in nature. Fear sells.

Some Western mainstream media, at the other hand, blindly follow their government’s line. German media overall has uncritically rallied behind chancellor Merkel’s decision to alter the country’s demography for good by inviting in millions of people from outside of Europe. The BBC also appears to have become a sheer instrument of British government power, it simultaneously avoids critical questions about the hugely impactful Brexit, and it drives a zealous campaign of top-down implemented ‘diversity’.

Especially in the US people should try to lower down their warlike rhetoric; otherwise one might be seeing war like effects on American streets at a certain point. And also in Europe, we should seek dialogue with our opponents. What we need, is pan-European media in which Europeans can openly exchange ideas. We do not need the dry, politically correct dullness of outlets like Euronews, we need sharp debate, about subjects that matter, in line with our precious European tradition called the freedom of speech.

One way in which we can take steps towards a true European media landscape, is online. So if you want, please join us and other European accounts in the ongoing conversation about the identity and future of our civilization.
