To the people of Europe,

The old houses of our village, town or city centre belong as much to our heritage as Roman temples and Gothic cathedrals. The streets where we grew up, the trees in between which we played, form an interconnected whole with the lakes of Scandinavia, the peaks of the Alps and the waters of the Mediterranean. The food our grandma used to cook, the language in which we dream, are fragments in a continental mosaic of cultures, a family of nations, that together constitute the civilization we call Europe.
